The picturesque fishing village of Alvor has a rich history dating back to pre-Roman
times. It's fate changed hands many times over the centuries until finally being
secured by Christians in the 13th century.

Today Alvor is renowned for it's superb beaches, either long and sandy or divided
by enchanting coves. Alvor remains a working fishing community with a fish market
and thriving streets based around a 16th century Church at its centre.
Bars playing live music proliferate in it's narrow streets and excellent restaurants
can be found right up to the water's edge. There is also a small square which
occasionally hosts local events. The resort boasts sports facilities which include
golf, tennis and horse riding. There is a large market on the second Tuesday of
every month.
