The Algarve
The Algarve has long been a favourite of discerning travellers, drawn by the warmth of its' people, fantastic food and wonderful climate.
Alvor is easily reached driving West from Faro along the N125
The reasons for visiting this area of Portugal just keep piling up! There truly is something for everybody and something different to do every day of the week, all in the knowledge that you'll find some of the most reasonable prices in western europe whether eating in fine restaurants or parascending over some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Day trips to markets, cliff top castles, nature reserves, spa towns and many natural wonders are easily accomplished either by local transport which is cheap and frequent, trains to take you through the unspoilt countryside or hire car which is competitively priced.
There is every activity for children that you would expect from a leading holiday destination; waterparks abound, an aqua-marine park and a reptile farm set in subtropical gardens are just some of the attractions of the area.
The Algarve has become a by word for great golf and every major resort has a cluster of courses to suit all levels. Golfers can relax in the knowledge that those not so keen on the sport can find plenty to do until their companions return ecstatic or rueful but surely exhilarated!
